Call To Action: Professionals to Help Victims of Revenge Porn

Cyber Civil Rights Initiative (CCRI) is currently seeking professionals who are qualified, willing, and able to help victims of revenge porn.  Victims across the United States are in dire need of attorneys, certified counselors/therapists, and victims advocates/social workers

Only a few states in the US have criminal laws against revenge porn. However, all states have civil statutes (e.g., invasion of privacy, intentional infliction of emotional distress, public disclosure of private facts, etc.) that apply to revenge porn cases. This means that, with the help of a lawyer, revenge porn victims can use these statutes to bring their perpetrators to justice.  We are therefore seeking lawyers who can write legal letters for victims and/or take their cases to civil court.

Revenge porn is a form of sexual assault that inflicts a great deal of trauma and stress upon its victims.  We are looking for certified psychologists who are able to help victims work through this trauma and heal from the damage that it has caused.

There are a great deal of resources available to victims of sexual assault and related crimes that could also be helpful to victims of revenge porn.  If you are a victim advocate or social worker who is familiar with these resources and would be willing to work directly with revenge porn victims, please contact us.

As most victims cannot afford to pay for these specialists at their standard cost, we are looking for professionals who are able to help victims pro bono or at a reduced cost.  If you are interested, please fill out this form and one of our representatives will follow up with you as soon as possible.

End Revenge Porn Once and For All.

Holly, I am so thankful to see this post. I will need some of these resources.

I am just at the point, after several years, of deciding to take action. I can see that I’m not alone in feeling isolated, traumatized, misunderstood and afraid. I’m learning with my Christian journey that I’ve been on since 2005, that I do not need to live with fear and timidity. However, looking back after all this time, I realize this experience – my betrayal – has been much more stressful and traumatizing than I wanted to admit. Out of guilt and shame about the details of my privacy invasion I hoped the people would STOP stalking me, STOP sharing intimate details of my private life and STOP showing people illegal video/photography of me ——– BUT THEY WOULD NOT AND ARE NOT. Just this past Friday, while having lunch in Alameda with my husbands’ aunt, there were people that are still getting info about me (from whoever is exploiting me), finding out where I live and following me around with the hopes of (some of them) getting yet another photo of me. I’ve seen people in Alameda (I go there to shop and spend time with my husbands aunt) at least 4 or 5 times with hidden cameras and I am not joking about this!!! THIS EXPERIENCE AS WELL AS YOURS AND MANY OTHER WOMENS reflects a kind of evil in others. Anyone who will post intimate/private photos of another without their consent, is evil. Anyone who is willing to stalk others with private info or without, is evil. I am so thankful for your work! You are helping people – maybe mostly women – who will be victimized in the future and will turn to you and others for help! I was so overwhelmed and confused for so long and I know others are/will be too. I was feeling rage for along time, and I have a hunch others with similar experiences are dealing with anger too! My rage has subsided, and I have forgiven a lot, but that doesn’t mean I have forgotten.

Since finding out about End Revenge Porn and your story Holly as well as Without My Consent and Bekah Wells, I have finally felt some hope. I’ve experienced a lot of healing by reading the bible – hearing sermons, but when I found out from a very pathetic, rude man (keep in mind that this had been several years since the stalking had started) that I was “popular” on Facebook, my deep wounds were opened again. I’m a strong person, but I’m learning I’m not meant to shoulder my pain, wounds, hurt alone. I’ve seen your articles and interviews and it has helped me see how NEW this kind of crime is and how traumatizing it is for others as well. Our new technology is wonderful, but we have to secure our rights/privacy from CREEPY people that will abuse new forms of technology. I keep remembering Susan Wilson and her traumatic experience. I admire her strength and courage also. I see from the interviews you’ve done, how courageous you are and you are PAVING A WAY for other victims to come forward. Your courage is making a path for others to start walking on.

Thank you for all that you are doing! We will be in touch. Sincerely, Dixie Lee Howe

  • Admiring the time and energy you put into your blog and in depth information you offer. It’s good to come across a blog every once in a while that isn’t the same out of date rehashed material. Great read! I’ve saved your site and I’m including your RSS feeds to my Google account.

  • Hi there! I know this is kinda off topic however , I’d figured I’d ask. Would you be interested in exchanging links or maybe guest writing a blog article or vice-versa? My blog discusses a lot of the same subjects as yours and I think we could greatly benefit from each other. If you happen to be interested feel free to shoot me an email. I look forward to hearing from you! Awesome blog by the way!
